Aldbury Morris Men - Dance

The Dancing Season

On summer Thursday evenings, we dance out in the Chiltern country on the borders of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, outside one of the area's traditional pubs.

Fixed dates in our calendar are New Year's Day and May Day morning (sunrise) when we dance in the picturesque setting of Aldbury with its pond and village stocks.

Everyone is most welcome to come along to our summer fixtures, and enjoy some of the best pubs in the area- enhanced by traditional English dance. We usually dance for about an hour, before retiring inside for some beer and some music- both the traditional and less traditional- until we're asked to leave. We aim both to enjoy ourselves and to entertain.

The Repertoire

Aldbury Morris Men perform an eclectic mix of both stick and hankie dances from about a dozen Cotswold traditions - many recognizable by other Morris sides!

Winter Practice

'Practice makes perfect', they say. We test this adage during the winter - every Thursday evening (about 8.30) at Aldbury Memorial Hall (right). New members (beginners or experienced) are very welcome, and so are dancers or musicians visiting the area. So why not join us - even if it is just for refreshments after practice at the Valiant Trooper pub in the village (about 10pm- it's your round!). Click here for a map locating the hall.
